I'm just getting my copy tomorrow, but I've been spoiled... most of the reviews are bad.... and someone over at amazon even started the "Burning Dawn" tour, where they plan to head over to phoenix and burn the books on a bonfire! LOL!
I can't wait to read it anyway. I loved the 3 books so far. ^_^ And I have to be the judge for myself! LOL! ^_^
Hi, you don't know me at all, but I saw your post on twilight_addicts. I finished BD Sat morning (all nighter here too.) No one on my flist reads the series, so I have no one to talk to about it. I have a review on my LJ which, I'll warn you, is pretty negative. That was my initial reaction, but I've been thinking about it since, thinking about the middle parts now that I know the ending and I'm reconsidering my opinion. I think I need to read it again
( ... )
My favorite parts were pretty much the same as yours. I loved seeing Bella as a new vampire. The only thing that bugged me about it was that she changed so much. Part of Bella's appeal was that she was so normal and she lost that when she became a vampire. I was hoping that she'd still be somewhat of a klutz, you know?
And I LOVED the book from Jake's POV. Like you said, I ship Bella/Edward, but I love Jake so it was sweet to have him in the book in such a big way.
When I first finished the book, I hated the baby aspect. I was so hoping that wouldn't happen, so I was pissed when it did. I really wanted Bella and Edward to just have each other and be done with it. And I was PISSED when Jake imprinted on it. I kinda felt like I was reading a fanfic, you know?
I don't think there are any klutzy vampires in SM land ;o)
Like you said, I really would've liked to see a book that allowed Edward and Bella to have each other and nothing else. I was jealous of TSB b/c it was taking page space away from them!
I've never liked the whole imprinting thing since it came up in New Moon. It seems really off somehow. Whatever happened to free will? Plus, it was, imo, a cheap way to resolve the love triangle. It's just too convenient and tidy. Why bother putting the romantic conflict in there in the first place? Let Jacob fall in love with someone else legitimately.
To be honest, the whole series has felt like fanfic. It was just good fanfic. ;o)
Added! :) I need some Twilight icons now, if I'm going to have someone to talk to about it! ;o)
I know, I almost feel like she should have written an alternative ending. Or an epilogue at least. Just so we could see how Bella and Edward's life progressed. Oh well.
Haha, I've got so many Twilight icons now, it's not even funny. ;]
