On a frantic dash from his own apartment to Kitty's house, Remy inadvertantly comes across the one and only Merc with a Mouth. Deadpool has some things to try and drop on the Cajun, and with a borrowed powerset Gambit is just ballsy enough to take the situation in hand.

When Rogue finally plucks up the courage to make use of the present Remy gave her for Christmas, the couple find more than the bargained for in the collar's operation.

( You gave me a real special gift, then, an' we ain't done nothin' with it yet. )

In the course of his work in Beacon Harbor, Remy has undoubtedly made enemies--and this becomes suddenly, brutally obvious to Gambit when Dustin Roland makes a damn good attempt to take his life. Luckily for Remy, he has an elastic spine, a kevlar suit, and an indesctructable girlfriend with a short temper.

Wandering around the neighborhood at night, Remy discovers Scott playing with a model airplane. The two talk, and manage not to try to tear each other's hair out.

After a relatively long and peaceful break, Gambit finds his sleep disrupted at six in the morning as work calls. The shapeshifter and the Cajun go over an attack plan in their concise, professional manner.

( Call me when you go, so I know if I have to send in a rescue party. )

A handful of X-ers and a drunken healer come together on the Badland streets with some curry and a pizza between them. As could be expected, things start at 'chaotic' and work downhill from there.

Remy takes a day off to hang out with his best, blue friend, and comes back to find his apartment full of something quite unexpected. The Cajun is clearly more thrilled about this than would be expected.

( Do not tell everyone, it's a secret, but I think she likes you! )

A beautiful day, but the Cajun and his paramour spend it inside, speaking in silliness and generally re-learning that they can, indeed, be comfortable in each other's company.

( Dat's how you know a girl really likes you, see. She steals construction barrels for you. )

About to return home from cleaning up the lighthouse, Rogue and Remy run across first Jean--who is nothing like the telepath they left behind the portals--and then Magneto, and the conversation inexorably turns to the rift between humans and metas.
