I've been trying to write an entry about all the stuff that is going on in Israel/Lebanon; but I can't write it because I either feel really racist or like I can't back up my points well enough. Just suffice to say that it is very complicated and that it is a war, so therefore no one is right.

It bothers me that questions of war and peace/living and dying are ones that get to be decided by politicians. To me, it seems like such a bigger thing, one that should be decided by everybody. I think that before every war, there should be a popular vote. That wouldn't be too hard..thats what democracy is about, right? I mean, obviously that is impossible, as if somebody actually made that law, the pols would easily find some way to circumvent it, but I think its a great idea. War should be a question for those who have to fight it.

Oh and this who Israeli-Lebanese conflict has made everybody forget about Iraq, and Iran. We were real pissed at Iran for a bunch of stuff having to do with nuclear ambition, but we kind of forgot about that, which is worrisome.

Something that isn't getting a lot of press in the US are the Doha Trade Agreements, which were supposed to resolve a conflict over a lot of things, with one of the biggest issues being subsidies in the UK and the US. They failed, mostly because of us, the US, because we wouldn't give up dumping our cheap cotton and corn in the markets of poor African countries. If you aren't familiar with the terms "subsidy" or "dumping," you ought to check them out, watch the videos at oxfam's make trade fair campaign. The whole "free trade" scheme sold to the American public is super lame and super bad.

I'm going to join this thing called the "community farm alliance." Its all about promoting the model of the family farm as the most sustainable and environmentally viable model out there. Plus, they take their locally grown produce and sell it at farmers market not only in organic food stores in and around kentucky, but also in farmers markets in areas that typically don't have access to enough healthy, locally produced goods. For instance, they are starting a smoketown farmers market that is meeting in the Meyzeek Middle School parking lot. A place I have often frequented. Also, they are starting one in portland. Pretty cool, plus dues are only $5.

Sports are great. Football is getting ready to start, so that means I can quit watching racing and tennis to get my sports fill.

I'm going to two musicals this week. What? Crazy. Ellen is going to be in Cinderella, I would recommend you check it out, but its $18 for a ticket.

Yeah..
