NOW I'm Ready For The New Year

Jan 04, 2011 09:30

I finally made my annual organizational trek to Staples and Office Max, so now I’m ready to start the New Year. Never underestimate the importance of the right organizational tools to make your life smoother and help you get a handle on all the paper and stuff one must keep track of.

I am now the proud owner of:

My "must have organizational supplies".

It is to laugh. Like this: HAHAHAHA!!!

I do not organize, nor do I have supplies to support good organizational habits. I am, however, a neat freak, and I do know where everything is...

Srsly, your post-it notes and flag thingies scare me.

Well that explains it. If you're a neat freak you don't need to organize! :-) It's the rest of us who got passed by with the Neat Freak gene that need serious organizing. In my next life, I want that gene.

Although in my defense, I DO know where everything is--even among all my stacks of papers and books and notebooks.

Hey yeah--you're right! I'm, like, naturally, on the genetic-level organized! I don't need any of those external organizational-thingies! Go me!

Also, go you with the organized new year!

I love shopping at Staples (or Office Max/Depot - either one). There's nothing like new office supplies. No wonder I love that line in You've Got Mail about "bouquets of sharpened pencils". *happy sigh*

I have several calendars, too. An academic year day planner (for appointments, etc.), plus three wall calendars. One for the kitchen (birthdays and doctor's appointments and, well, mostly for the art). One for near my desk - the desk that I never use anymore because Other People have made it a cluttered mess. But it's good feng shui to have images of abundance there, so I do. And one more, which I believe I intended to use for publishing sorts of things. Not that I have many of them to keep track of just yet, but one can only hope.

I like pens. And pastel-colored legal pads. And new binders, although I'm never great at following through with filing (whether in a book or a folder).

I am very happy to learn that someone else has a similar fondness for calendars. Lord, I love them!

Pens! My old standby favorites are the Pilot Precise V5, but I have recently discovered and fallen in love with the Pentel EnerGel needle tip. :-)

Ha! I *wouldn't* be organized if I had just moved! Oy! Merely the thought of it causes me to break out in great, wracking shudders.

Here's wishing you lots of unpacking and settling in mojo!

I LOVE the three-door credenza! Me Want, too! I may be moving my bedroom *office* into my sunroom (which I finally cleaned up after ten years) so the toddlers can't find me as easily. ;-)

I'm not very organized, have files stuffed everywhere over the past two decades of writing, but I love to shop at office supply stores! Never knew a writer who didn't . . .
