Doctor Who
Finally! It has felt like forever since this show was on.
I love Jodie as the Doctor!! She isthat Time Lord. Never questioned it. It's always tough to get a good read on the new Doctor in the first ep. To quote Eleven, " they're still cooking". But Thirteen is freaking delightful. She literally crahed into a train and just went to work. She built her own sonic! Love the yellow glow. She seems very compassionate and senstive. She was sorry that they saw how violently that man was killed. And her understanding with Ryan over being upset that his father skipped Grace's funeral.. Thirteen seems more open emotionally than Twelve was. Harken back to Eleven or Ten. She's quirky and funny which always makes me happy.
The new companions are good too. Ryan had the bulk of the ep. We learned about his disablity, his determindness over riding a bike, his bravery in clumbing up the scaffolding and that a temper lurks beneath. See : bike in tree.
He loved his nan and granddad. Graham may take some time. I suspect this adventure will bribg them closer. I enjoy how techie Ryan is. I like when shows acknowledge the real world. The one negative is- don't touch strange lights in the woods! Come on, man.
His Youtube tribute and his bike riding attempts were very touching.
Yas was a little harder for me. I dig that she's a cop, I like when the companions have real jobs. She showed us her ambition and drive. Being a probie is nice, but she knows that she can do more. I like her and I am looking forward to seeing more of who she is. Nice that her and Ryan know each other.
Graham is my kind of person. Grounded as all hell. I love when he questioned them on running towardsthe alien. And said it was crazy for Grace to love all of this. My heart broke for him losing his wife and finding out that he met her in chemo. Interesting how real we are getting. Grace was immediately awesome. Gone too soon, Ryan's gran. This show being what it is, i fully expect to see her again. I'd hate to leave her in this one ep.
The only thing I hated was the monster. He looked idiotic, his mission was stupid and I was happy to see him vanish. Bye, you big cheat!
We didn't get the new song or titles ( fu bbc america) so that's for next week. Curious to see how the trio deal with kinda being kidnapped and taken to space. Ha!
All in all, good start. Love Thirteen and am ready to see the new TARDIS!
