What a powerful episode. The actress who played Rosa was so good. The ending had me in tears. This show is definitelydifferent than other seasons. I appreciated that Thirteen understood why Ryan was uncomfortable sitting at the back of the bus. Her sympathy was refreshing after Ten's full on white male privilege bull. Twelve wasn't that much better with Bill but Thirteen was miles ahead. Ryan's anger and bewilderment of the 1950's was well done by Toshin. That slap was shocking, not that that was "normal" behavior back then ( and who are we kidding, right now) but that the show went there. The language was surprising too. And cringe-worthy. Which is the point.
Yaz was treated only slightly different from Ryan. She was allowed to sit in the front but was still subjected to rascim, which has to be very disconcerting. Though Graham and Thirteen were all about the case as Yaz was forced to wonder where to sit and Ryan was forced to sit in the back. So the blindness is still very much there.
This is a timely episode and I hope it can teach people that treating everyone with respect and dignity is the right thing to do. I am so enjoying this season. These characters are fun to watch and Jodie is just so, so good. Next will be hard for me to watch. Yikes. Why wasn't the moon egg ep enough?!
Also this episode made me Timeless so bad!
