So don't use them. Not a big deal. It's pretty trivial to host your own flash videos. I've done it. I've also gotten whacked with over $100 in bandwidth charges when one video went slightly viral. Personally I'll just use youtube.

I think it's kind of funny for someone with a fairly public Facebook account to be complaining about google being snoopy.

Well, Facebook seems a bigger deal to me. Google probably sells a lot of info, but I think they probably at least make an attempt to anonymize data and push ads themselves rather than just selling their database outright.

Facebook is pretty much grabbing and selling anything they can and laughing about it in public.

I'm afraid I agree with Mr. R. I have already deleted my Facebook account.

On the other hand, I don't understand the attraction of Facebook.

My main point was, if you want free services, you pay for them in some way. If you don't want to give away information, then you pay for services. TANSTAAFL. It's not hard to host your own videos on your own site that you pay the bill for, it just costs money.

Agreed.

Part of the issue is accessibilty: if you want to reach a wider audience you have to use a service. To be a bit more professional, I use http://disaggregate.blip.tv to host my business videos.

BTW I just read this morning that Facebook has added an actual "delete account" button that it is rumored actually deletes your data. Of course there's no way to prove that your data is actually deleted.

Would you believe I originally created my Facebook page because my then-employer required that all employees have one? After that, it just grew. I've never done much with it, and I'll probably zap it one day soon.
