I'd be more adamant about testing if I had more faith in lab tests. Bruce very lightly touches on " defending themselves by banking fluids" implying that tests need to be replicable to be valid. I have had a high enough hematacrit to disqualify me from men's racing and I am a 50 something woman - who doesn't race. No one ever figured out why my hematacrit spiked or why it later went back to normal, though, in the meantime, the oncologist scared the hell out of me. Until medical science figures out these "inexplicable" results, I'd be reluctant to ban racers based on lab tests.

By the way, I still love bicycle racing too. We just started watching Keith's Xmas present from me last night - 2010 Tour of Flanders and Paris-Roubaix. Doesn't look as if we'll watch any racing tonight though. Keith is out for the count already.

Once we dig ourselves out of our real estate hole I would love to go to Europe to take in a couple of the Spring Classics.
