Religious choices

Every once in a while, people ask what my religion is. I reply something to the effect of, "It's complicated. I don't follow any organized religion." I think it's impossible for one to have no religion at all. It's absolutely possible to not belong to any organized religion, but one makes choices on how to live one's life that add up to a personal ( Read more... )

The US Revolution was had a major religious undertone: British Church of England vs. Scottish immigrants Presbyterians. So "Freedom of Religion" in the Bill of Rights was simultaneously a continuing slap in the face toward Britain and protection for them from the winners. The US went out of its way to avoid the Divine Right of Kings. But beware Nehemiah Scudder...

Huh? Shaver commercials oriented towards Orthodox Jews? Where does this idea come from?

And the Jewish Bible does not prohibit surgery. I've never even heard that notion before.

(Please note the order of my comments: I'm bemused by the notion that the miniscule audience of Orthodox men somehow drives the shaver market. Misinterpertation of the Bible, on the other hand, is a cottage industry.)
