Gym

Aug 02, 2004 16:25

Finally made it to the gym on Monday which looks good for 3 times a week with non-consecutive days.
Did all my reps without struggling (too much) and did an extra 12 minutes CV in the middle of all the weights too.
There all in all for about 1 & 1/4 hours and feel good and tired and good.

Thank you. I'm really enjoying the gym, which is a little worrying. And it seems to be really helping in terms of doing something, and doing much needed exercise in order to get healtier both physically and mentally. Soon I might start on exercises to try and get rid of my belly.

The belly will go with increased physical activity; there's been a lot of bunkum taught about spot-weight reduction, but in reality the best way to get rid of excessive fat is just to use more energy than you take in. You can tone and you can crunch, but all you'll achieve unless you deal with the energy inbalance will be a six-pack hidden by a layer of fat.

You'll find that as you step up the excercise you'll want to eat more, but you'll not put any weight on. That's a nice place to be (I'm not there enough).

Gyms are adictive,

I'm finding that now I swim and weight train, I keep looking thoughtfully at the flexibility / balance type classes thinking 'well I could fit *one* in'....

I suspect it's somethign to do with the endorphines.

On the lines of cabd's comment, if you are going to diet you will also need to exercise more gently, as you'll tend to get tired faster. The more extreme the diet, the more gently the exercise.
