i wouldn't be rubbing it in that the dems are the minority this close to midterms. i don't think the republicans are going to be holding on to that majority for too much longer.

actually, who am i kidding. the democrats will probably accidentally get elected and then give their seats to their opponents out of confusion.

Live to fight another day and all that, and it's good to be optimistic, but don't forget that the Dems had themselves convinced that Gore was going to win in 2000 (and some are still convinced that he won), they were convinced that they were going to take back the House in 2002 since the president in power's party always loses seats in midterm elections, and in 2004 they were convinced that they were going to just barely back the Senate and that Kerry was going to win in a landslide.

The only way I could see the Dems taking back the House or the Senate or both is to run on an agenda, and I haven't seen that. All they've been running on for years is Bush sucks and conservatives are criminals.

yeah. i like to pretend that between an unpopular war, corruption in the republican party, abuse of executive power, and all the other crap that hasn't been going the republicans way that the democrats could at least muster enough brainpower between all of them to win a few seats. the only thing the democrats are really, really good at is losing so we'll see.
