Tina needed a break. Not just from work - she had a perfectly legitimate day off - but from her quarters, and her lab, and the mess hall, and the observation deck, and all her usual haunts. She thought about going swimming, but wasn't sure she had the energy. That, and a swimsuit would definitely show her pregnancy, and she wasn't in the mood to have that conversation over and over.
What she really wanted was to get off the ship for a while. Go someplace nice, with trees and sunshine, and little bird noises. She'd even take six-limbed lizard-bird noises, as long as there weren't any big-eyed dog-monster things.
But an afternoon in a tranquil forest wasn't going to happen on the Enterprise. Unless...
Tina put on a cheerful green sundress - why not? - grabbed her book, and headed off to see if anyone was using the holographic recreation room. It was usually in high demand, but she had a good feeling. And sure enough, when she got there it was empty, and no one was signed up for hours. She quickly keyed in a forest clearing scene, chose the "open" option so that anyone else in the mood for a little tranquility could join her, and stepped inside.
Ahh, beautiful. The sight, sound, the feel of the air... The holographic recreation room even replicated some smells. As long as she didn't try to actually touch anything, the illusion would be perfect. Tina found a lounge chair and dragged it right into the middle. It looked very odd sitting in the middle of a forest, but it would be comfortable. She sat down, opened her book, and started to read.
