It was nearly impossible to hear with all the roars and cheers that resounded through the Great Hall. One thing became immediately clear once the initial jubilant feeling of relief at Voldemort's demise passed, there were still very real and very immediate dangers at hand. Although many of the Death Eaters had been subdued, there were a number loose and edging toward the doors, and the sounds of the many magical creatures could be heard both inside and outside the castle. Anxious as most people were to begin celebrating, Minerva needed the attention of her staff and the Order members directed on securing the safety of the castle and those within.
She placed a hand on Kingsley's arm and drew his attention to the Death Eater moving with all deliberation around the edge of the crowd toward the door. A few of the other Order members and fighters noticed and began to head off. Some of the student fighters started to follow and Minerva nodded in approval, saying only, "Go in pairs, please."
Moving quickly to Hagrid, Minerva directed him to see to rounding up the magical creatures and she looked around for Charlie Weasley. She hated to take him away from his family after the loss of Fred, but there were few people with as much experience handling large beasts. Noticing his brother Bill, she asked him if he would be willing to aid Hagrid with the Dementors. Minerva thanked him for volunteering and then nodded to Fleur who hurried back to continue helping Poppy with the injured.
Other volunteers were quickly mobilized to search inside the castle, and others went to help those sweeping the grounds.
