Ron picked up two plates and chanced adding crisps to Hermione's as well as a pickle. Kreacher had made the sandwiches and opened his mouth to protest the addition, but Ron spoke first. "She doesn't have to eat them, if she doesn't want to still," he insisted. "But potatoes are considerably less awful in crisp form, and if I'm going to eat them I can at least offer her some. You know I'll eat them if she doesn't." Kreacher made a grunt of agreement, and Ron balanced the plates on his arm, taking two glasses of juice in the other hand.
The house was slowly starting to transform. They hadn't made drastic changes to furnishings yet, nothing beyond shifting things from room to room, but the whole of Grimmauld Place was starting to look truly clean. Ron climbed the stairs up and up, past their bedrooms and Teddy's nursery, past the lavish sitting room attached to what must have been Sirius' parents' bedroom, and into a small private study on the other side.
"Break time," he smiled, setting the juice glasses down on the spindle-legged desk and passing Hermione her sandwich. "I'll eat the crisps if you still don't want them," he volunteered. "I just thought I'd try."
