Harry was hungry.
He closed the door in the foyer, noting that Kreacher was absent from his usual hovering spot. It wasn't quite time for him to be cooking, so maybe he was off cleaning somewhere. For his part, Harry was headed for the kitchen, because he was going to make something for himself anyway. And for Ron and Hermione once they came in from wherever they'd been today.
After he'd finally signed his letter and returned it to Gringott's, Harry had needed a distraction. Despite having just had practice yesterday, he'd gone flying around Hogsmeade and Hogwarts before putting in a bit of work on the Astronomy Tower. Now, he really needed food. When he walked back to the kitchen, no one was there, and he wondered what was keeping Kreacher from his favorite room of the house. He opened the fridge and took out some pumpkin juice. As he poured the glass, he heard voices from the skullery. Squinting, he walked over and peeked inside, chugging juice as he did.
Hermione was in the small room with Kreacher, both of them bent over a book and some parchment. It was a bit odd to witness, really. Chore charts again? Harry didn't think it was likely that he was helping her with study schedules. He leaned in against the door jamb for a moment, watching, and when Hermione glanced up, lifted a brow questioningly. Kreacher was still busily doing whatever it was Harry had walked in on, and hadn't seen him yet.
