Some of the tables in the library had been moved to accommodate the number of people invited to the study group. If only a few showed, it’d be more space to spread out. If more showed than Hermione expected, they’d have room to study together without being on each other’s laps. Considering the people invited, she figured that would not go over well.
Madam Pince had watched her move things, which had been stressing, but Hermione had received from permission from her beforehand, so she didn’t let it bother her too much. To avoid disturbing anyone else who might be using the library to study, she cast a charm around the area to give them the chance to speak normally without having Madam Pince scolding them. If they were disruptive, they might not be able to use the library again, after all.
After she made sure the tables were arranged, she chose a seat for herself and sorted through the stack of notes she’d brought along. She had spent more time than she cared to admit during the late hours when she couldn’t sleep working on her own revision notes as well as information for the group. It was going to be interesting to see who attended, and she wanted to be organized and prepared, so they didn’t end up accomplishing nothing more than conversation.
So, she had her schedule and outlines, as well as a few other things to help, and the people who attended would hopefully be satisfied with the way they had decided to do things for the group. It wasn’t going to be a class or involve someone lecturing, which meant only those who were actually serious about revising were likely to attend anyway. She was excited about renewing her knowledge of six years of material with different people who might challenge her to remember things she normally wouldn’t or assist her in thinking out theories and ideas she’d never had an opportunity to focus on before. She had figured out dates and what subjects to cover on each date, so they could go over everything before NEWT courses started, and people could attend whichever revision suited the classes they were taking.
Technically, she knew that she was honestly prepared enough to retake her OWLs right this minute and score the same, though she thought her practical experience in recent months would move her DADA score up to an O. However, studying was just fun. Other people might prefer attending parties or hanging about pubs, but Hermione had always enjoyed the library and learning so much more than any of that sort of thing.
She was excited about this group, even if only those who had sent her replies did attend, because it was a new group of people to learn from and share knowledge with, and that was just amazing to her. People saw the world in so many different ways, and she knew from experience that she could occasionally focus so much on something that she missed other angles or elements to it, so this was going to be such a great opportunity. Even if it did mean that Harry and Ron could tease her about being odd.
There was still a little time before the group was supposed to meet, though she figured Harry and Ron would show up pretty soon. She hoped those who planned to be there were on time because she didn’t plan to wait to start the meeting for those who were tardy. After all, if they were very serious about their NEWTs, they’d bloody well arrive on time or understand that they’d miss that time for revision. This was an open study group, so people could arrive or leave whenever they wanted. While she waited for people to start arriving, she removed a book from her bag and started to read.
