Summary: The second meeting of the revision group
Completion: Incomplete
The work at the Ministry was more interesting than Hermione had expected. It was nice to actually be given a project to do, instead of just filing and getting coffee. If they could help Charlie narrow down possible locations for Greyback and his pack, it was even better. Goyle was quiet and, when he did speak, it was usually to say something worth saying, which was an improvement over people who talked just to hear themselves talk. Of course, she knew that she’d likely fall into the latter category because she talked a lot, but she liked to think it was usually about things that were somewhat important.
After she took the Floo to Grimmauld Place, she found Harry and Ron already home. Together, they Apparated to Hogwarts and walked from the gates inside to the library. It was the second revision group, which would likely be an indication of who actually did intend to use the group after the first meeting. She expected at least a twenty percent drop, if not more, just because some people might not like the way it was being arranged or weren’t interested in being in a group that was larger. Also, with the three subjects tonight being Charms, Care of Magical Creatures, and Astronomy, some people not taking those courses might not show up for general revision.
Still, she decided it was better to arrange the tables as if she were optimistic instead of realistic. She hadn’t expected that many to show to the first meeting, after all, and she’d hate to have fewer tables than needed. It would make her appear disorganized or lacking faith in the members. So, after a discussion with the boys, they moved the tables into a specific order, adding two from an area Pince said would be okay to use. There was a table for Care of Magical Creatures revision, one for Astronomy, four together for Charms, and two together for general revision. It would be too many seats, but she liked organizing it by table and course, so people would know where to sit.
Charms revision would likely last for the entire study group. A lot of students were taking it and there was six years worth of material to revise. The other two subjects had fewer participants, so, working in smaller groups, they should be able to go through the material faster and then they could hop to another table if they were taking another subject or begin general revisions. It worked in theory, but Hermione wasn’t foolish enough to think that it would necessarily work in practical experience. Still, it seemed the best method to try for the first actual meeting. If it failed, then she could regroup and discuss and figure out something different for next Tuesday.
She consulted her chart of members and subjects, counted chairs, and nodded. It seemed to be in order, so she cast the required charms to keep the noise down then sat down at one of the Charms tables with her back to the window so she could see people as they approached. Once she was settled in, she got her Charms textbooks for the last six years and the new Charms text that they’d just bought from her bag and stacked them neatly beside her, with year one on top. As they went through each year’s material, she could remove the top book and put it back into her bag. There was still time before the six o’clock meeting start, so she went ahead and started reviewing her Charms notes while waiting to see if anyone attended the second meeting.
