Pandemonium. City of Demons, City of Hell. The literary association of the world rolled around in the back of his mind uselessly, for the reality of it had played out in front of his eyes since the previous evening. Terry was tired - wiped out, bone tired, perfectly exhausted - but he was so wound up that sleep wasn't even a consideration.

Rest was, however, and after the celebratory mood had died down somewhat, and the reality of death had truly sunk its claws into the collective consciousness of the room, Terry sat down alone, away from the long tables, propping himself up against the rough stone of the wall. He did so gingerly, battered and bruised as he was, not only from the battle but from the beating he'd taken from Amycus Carrow. Merlin, but it seemed a lifetime ago.

He saw the wounded being tended to, and thought he should get up and get himself looked at as well, but he knew there were those more injured than he, and the cuts and scrapes and burns could wait. They hurt, but none were life-threatening, and none seemed cursed. It could wait.

Terry closed his eyes and just listened to the confused babble of voices that surrounded him. He heard laughing mingled with sobbing, and it was such an odd combination - the dead among the living in the same way they'd been laid out in the Great Hall earlier - that he didn't know what to make of it. He tried not to think of the dead, but instead focused on the living.

He'd seen Henry leaving with the Hufflepuffs before the battle - he knew his nephew would be safe at the Hog's Head. With everything over, Terry would have to send out owls. To Mandy, for certain. He'd missed her in this past year, but couldn't have ever wished that she'd been there for any of it. He'd also have to send an owl to his sister Kate, to see if he could stay with her until it was safe for his parents to return to the country.

After that...he didn't know. But it would be better than it had been in a long time.
