Bill traced a protection rune into Fleur's skin, right above where she was carrying their child. The day was beautiful, the rain clearing for a sunny afternoon that he insisted, after helping Fleur in the garden, was meant to be spent on a blanket lazing about. It would be the last chance they had to be so redolent for the next few months, with her agency and his teaching load. He doubted he'd need to stay late very often, but on the off chance he did, he wanted to soak up as much time with Fleur as he could. He couldn't imagine how his dad did it. Their child was barely more than a cluster of cells, but already he felt protective, excited, and worried all at once.
"I know you said you feel fine, but what feels different?" He asked, curious. She'd been more responsive to his touch, he thought, but there had to be more than that. He traced another symbol around her belly button.
