Revision group had been productive tonight. Everyone was swamped with reading and essays, so it was little surprise that everyone was serious about their revising. When it was time to leave, Hermione was pleased with her progress and honestly didn't feel like returning home yet. Once there, she'd likely start revising again or working on notes for H.E.R.O., and she actually felt like not using her brain for at least an hour or two, not that she'd admit that to anyone.
After the group reached the gates, she suggested they stop by the Hog's Head. Kreacher didn't cook for them on Tuesdays because they got in late, so having dinner out would save them from fighting him for the kitchen. It was an excuse, of course, but a rather good one. Harry and Ron agreed, as did a few others, so they headed off towards the pub. It would be a nice reward for a full week of stress and studying, she decided.
It wasn't a pleasant walk for her, surrounded by darkness and nature, and she tensed when they reached the spot where Greyback had taken her, but there was safety in numbers, she supposed, because she managed to make it to Hogsmeade without incident. Those who weren't interested in going to the pub or had other plans left them as they continued along High Street until they reached the pub.
If Aberforth was surprised to see a small group of students, he didn't show it. The pub had people but it wasn't so crowded that there weren't some empty tables. After they moved a couple together, she sat down and put her bag on the floor beside her feet. She'd been to the Hog's Head a few times since the war ended, but her mind still brought forth images of that visit years ago when they formed the DA, which made her think about those who were no longer able to be with them.
They were able to be here now, though, because of what they all chose to do, so she knew she shouldn't be sad or it might make their sacrifice seem less important. Still, it was more difficult than she'd expected to not see Colin sitting at Gryffindor's table during lunch or to not look across at Justin during Herbology. Of course, the most noticeable loss was obvious any time the Weasleys got together, and she looked at the table as she thought about Fred.
He'd like H.E.R.O., she thought as she remembered their conversations about S.P.E.W. when he'd try to make her understand. They had been friends, and she hadn't even gone to see George since the war ended, which made her disappointed in herself. Maybe it had been easier to let people who were closer to him take care of him or to think that he'd not want anyone but his family and best friends around, but, really, it had also been easier on her because that loss had hurt her more than any other. She'd have to visit George soon, to thank him for the owl after her attack, and to see if he needed anything.
With a shake of her head, she focused on the present instead of the past. She looked up and smiled at Harry and Ron, just in case either of them had noticed her mood change when they arrived. It had been a long day, and she was hungry, so it was time to figure out what she wanted to eat.
