Completion: Complete

It was a little after seven when Lavender managed to swallow down the sweetened cup of tea. Her appetite seemed to have gone the same was as her ability to sleep all the way through the night. Without much sleep, this week seemed to have passed in something of a blur, days bleeding into each other.

She wondered how she was supposed to get through four hours of Ancient Runes and then another four hours of Herbology. Lavender couldn't concentrate any longer than a few minutes and she knew that this would have to end soon or she would end up hurting herself. Or someone else. It was hurting someone else, especially physically, that worried her most. In her current state of mind, she could imagine that her temper would be easy to snap.

Before Lavender left the house, she had a couple of owls that she needed to send. Her handwriting was shaky as she pressed her quill to the parchment.

Neville,

I'm so sorry that I haven't got back to you about a job yet. A few things have come up recently and I'm trying to work out my priorities.

Professionally, I think you would be a brilliant asset and I would love to offer you a job. But, personally, I don't think I can. Rather, I don't think I should. It's a very small family business and I think there are family issues we need to work through, things that will spill over into the business. You're one of my closest friends but, even after everything we've been through, I don't want to bring you into this part of my life right now.

I really wish I could give you a job, Neville, but now isn't the best time. I promise I'll let you know when things settle down, if you're still interested.

Love,

The second owl was a lot harder to write and Lavender glanced anxiously at the clock. She would have to leave soon to make it to Ancient Runes on time, though she could always Apparate right up to the gates. The last thing she wanted was to put off writing this letter when she had finally worked up the nerve.

Kieran,

Please tell my mother that I need to talk to her. We need a family meeting. I expect my dad to be there.

Don't tell me he's still missing because I can't stand anymore lies. Please. I found an invoice from July with his signature on, so I need to understand. This is driving me out of my mind, Kieran. I've been through enough this year.
