There was, Lavender discovered, the added bonus of paranoia in Ancient Runes. She'd known before that his senses were as good as hers and he could perceive changes in a person like that, but as she'd struggled to sit through the lesson, she was sure that he could tell something was wrong with her; Lavender had stayed quiet and avoided his gaze the best she could, especially as she'd managed to do barely any work.
When the bell sounded throughout the castle for lunch, Lavender made her way out of the classroom. She wanted to try and get her head together during this free hour, especially as she had missed Herbology last week and needed to try and make up for it this afternoon. She stopped by the Great Hall, but turned away at the smell of the food. She didn't need it now, and there were too many people there. Besides, she had half a bar of chocolate in her school bag and that could tide her over until this evening.
It was quieter down by the lake, but she paused when she saw Hermione having lunch. Lavender nearly turned away, but found herself torn by the need to be alone and a craving for company. Hermione could possibly help, too, she realised. Academically, at least. If she could persuade Hermione to let her borrow her Ancient Runes notes sometime, it might make up for the lack of attention she had paid this morning.
"Hermione?" she ventured, approaching. "Sorry. I'm not bothering you am I?"
