Olympus had done wonderful work with the bedrooms. All three had been set up as the sketches had indicated, and everything looked lovely. Hermione was pleased with the color of green that she'd finally chosen for the wall color. It was pale and went well with the cream and browns that she'd chosen for the linens and drapes. The furniture she had chosen was darker wood, and the metal bed frame was also a darker color, so it all went together well. The floor was wooden without ugly carpet making the room smell like old socks, and the rug that Crispin had selected went well with everything else.

Of course, it didn't feel like her home yet because there weren't any personal touches. She had considered working on it last night, but she'd been tired after a busy week, and she'd been distracted by the file on Annabelle, so she decided to wait until after work today to settle into the new space. Reviewing the file hadn't been exactly pleasant, either, so she hadn't been in any hurry to move downstairs when the boys were still upstairs. The fact that she wouldn't just be across the hall from Harry and Ron was one aspect of moving to a new bedroom that she was dreading. It had just been so long since she was on her own, in a way, and it had taken time to get used to not sharing a room even when they'd been on the same floor.

It had to be done, though. Harry and Ron would be in their new bedrooms, so she needed to move into hers. It didn't take much time at all to pack up her few belongings and levitate them downstairs. She had clothes, books, and a few personal things, but she had lost most of her stuff when her parents left, not that she'd had very much to begin with. Once she had her things on the floor, it was time to put them away. The wardrobe that she'd bought was definitely big enough for her clothes, and it didn't take very long to get them hung up.

It was interesting to see what she had in the bags from her shopping trip with her mum, since she hadn't really paid most of that stuff any attention since she bought it. There were several dresses and tops that she didn't think she'd likely ever wear, but she kept them because she wasn't about to waste money by tossing them out. After all, she'd worn one of the dresses to Katie's party, so there might come a time when she needed something more than jeans and a T-shirt. After she had everything on hangers, she organized them by color, careful to keep her tops separate from the bottoms when necessary. There was still a lot of room in the wardrobe, which either meant it was too big in the first place or she needed to buy more clothes.

With a shrug, she closed the doors and turned her attention to the things that would go into the four drawer chest that she'd bought. Socks went into one drawer with knickers and bras in another. The third drawer held the few pairs of stockings and other similar lingerie items that she'd bought recently. The fourth drawer she used for storage and neatly organized photos and keepsakes that she'd managed to keep during the years. She chose several photos to put in the frames that she'd bought during one of her trips to the market recently. One of Harry, one of Ron and Harry, one of her with Harry and Ron, one of the Weasleys, and one of her parents. She was tempted to put the latter one away, but she didn't want to forget her parents even if they'd never remember her.

She marked another item off her list and turned her attention to the shelves she'd asked to be put up. With the library on the same floor, there wasn't really a need for a large bookcase, so just had her favorite books to put away. She alphabetized them easily enough and made sure they were in the proper category before she marked that off her list. There were two shelves that were still empty, though she doubted it took long before she had more books covering the space. She put three of the photographs on the smaller shelf near her bed and put two on her bedside table by clock. Her wireless went on the other bedside table, and, after considering it a moment, she took the framed photo of Harry and put beside it so there was one photograph on each of the small bedside tables.

There were drawers in those tables, but she didn't have anything to put in them. The extra storage space would come in handy eventually, she assumed, so she turned her focus to the small desk. She hadn't planned on having a desk, but Crispin had acted as if she were insane for not taking advantage of his suggestion, so she'd relented. Besides, it'd be nice to have somewhere to work when she couldn't sleep. Her parchment was put away, her quills and ink were organized, and her Muggle office supplies were arranged.

The last thing of her list was her shoes, which she probably should have done along with clothes, but she'd been alphabetizing and prioritizing, so it had somehow ended up last on her list. It didn't take very long to put them in the bottom of her wardrobe, and she soon marked the last item off her list.

It was then that she realized she'd forgotten a few things. She put out a vase with fresh flowers by her clock, arranged her pillows on the bed, set out new candles in the various holders around the room, and hung up the artwork that Harry had got her for her birthday. Now, the room was finished.

She looked around and felt accomplished. There were signs of her around the space now, and it felt comfortable. It was easy to imagine spending free time here now, curled up on her bed with a book or working on revision at her desk. The windows let in a lot of light during the day, and the view was nice. Crookshanks seemed to approve of the bed, since he'd not moved from it after he'd made himself comfortable earlier. They might have to fight over space if he honestly thought he could just lie around in the middle and leave her with the smaller half, but that was an argument to have tonight.

The desk chair was comfortable, so she sat down and just looked around. It was impossible not to smile because this was the first time she'd ever had a room that really felt like her, since her childhood one had been decorated by her mum and never changed after she went away to school. This room was who she was now, though, and she had to admit that she liked it a lot.

After weeks or, really, months of uncertainty and worry, she appreciated having something that felt like her own. It felt stable, even if the future was never certain, and she owed Harry more than she could put into words for the security he'd given her just by letting her live here and letting her and Ron help him make this house a home.
