Today's story had been Dragon's first Halloween, a wizarding tale written by Matilda Watchmore. It had a nice enough message- the little dragon doesn't understand why all the people are dressed up in scary costumes and finally learns about the holiday, and how to be brave- and the children seemed to like it.

Eloise didn't remember any Halloween stories from her childhood for some reason, so found the first book that had a moral of some sort. She needed the morale boost of a fictional dragon learning to not be scared of things he didn't understand after she spent her weekend holed up in her room trying to conquer the challenging charms homework. It was frustrating, and she found it more difficult that it should have been considering she covered some of the material last year. Several times over the course of the weekend, she found herself becoming irrationally angry and melancholy, something she didn't have much experience with.

She couldn't keep blaming her moodiness on the deaths of her father and Meg, as it was really silly to continue that pattern. Thankfully, her temper only showed itself when she was alone, so she was able to ignore it most of the time.

On her way home from Flourish and Blott's, she decided to stop into the Three Broomsticks for dinner, despite her displeasure in eating alone. It wasn't that she was embarrassed, she just felt very out of place when sitting in a restaurant without a companion. She had a book, though, and figured she could bury her nose in that if she didn't spot a companion.

Now, sitting at a table in the center of the room, she listened to the conversations around her while she pretended to read.
