Pansy checked the clock again. At last, she sighed, her break was upon her. She had been scanning files looking for dates and names for three hours, and was in desperate need of a cup of coffee and a chance to rest her eyes. Cross checking evidence that would be used to keep Death Eaters in Azkaban was bittersweet: on one hand, she was doing something of importance and felt strongly about making sure the defendants never set foot outside again. There was a part of her, though, that felt compassion for the accused. These people, like her parents, made horrific choices, but were mothers, fathers, sisters, and brothers all the same. It was humbling to know that even people she spent many evenings with as a child were, in fact, human. She couldn't defend their choices, and certainly wished to see justice for their crimes against the wizarding world, but knew that others, not interns most likely, were scrutinizing her family's history with as much vigor.
Heading quickly to the breakroom, Pansy poured herself a cup of coffee and sat down, determined to give her eyes a chance to recover in preparation for the next several hours of work.
