The Christmas holidays were drawing to a close, and Terry was glad for it. He'd gone to Bristol on the evening of December 23rd to spend a few days with his family, which had been fun but a bit draining; in addition to a big dinner on Christmas Eve at his parents' house, his three married siblings had Christmas gatherings at their homes as well, so he'd Floo'd all over Bristol County between Christmas Eve and Boxing Day. On December 27th he'd gone to his sister Kate's flat in Nottingham, allegedly to spend some time just with her but also to decompress from the family togetherness before he went back to Hogsmeade. He'd had a good visit with Kate, talking more with her about his breakup with Katie Bell and how he'd actually
flirted and danced with a man at Katie's Christmas party at the Three Broomsticks. Terry hadn't missed Kate's raised eyebrow, and he'd assured her he'd had no ulterior motives. It was simply the first time a bloke had really flirted with Terry in a long time and it had reminded him that he enjoyed that sort of attention from anyone he found attractive.
He'd gone back to Hogsmeade on after breakfast on the 28th and his two half-days at the Ministry, on the 28th and 29th, reminded him of why he'd needed a few days off. Fortunately, he'd had something to look forward to, visiting the Victoria and Albert Museum with Hermione. It was nice to have a friend who shared his interest in museums and books; a lot of people couldn't seem to understand that about him, but Hermione did, and he was looking forward to enjoying the exhibits with her. They'd decided to go late morning, before work, and shortly before 10 a.m. Terry Floo'd to the Leaky Cauldron to meet her.
