In a normal situation, Pansy would feel obligated to make everything perfect for a bloke coming over for dinner. With Neville, she didn't really feel that type of pressure. She wanted things to go well, but she didn't think he would care if she wore dress robes, had candles lit on the table with fresh flowers arranged perfectly in a crystal vase. No, all the things her mother taught her seemed rather silly in this situation. It wasn't that she didn't want to impress him, but it went against everything they were and had been to force something so formal, especially when she'd said they would be cooking together.

That didn't mean she wasn't going to look fabulous, of course.

After struggling to come up with the perfect outfit for well over half an hour, Pansy finally settled on her denims and cashmere jumper. Neville had seen this before, but she didn't have the luxury of a closet overflowing with casual apparel. Leaving her hair down, she curled the ends into ringlets with her wand, adding just a touch of makeup. Satisfied that she looked casual but not plain, she made her way downstairs to make the initial preparations for their meal.

Knowing Neville struggled with mashed potatoes, she thought they would make them together, along with a glazed ham and snap peas. It wasn't a lavish meal, but it would provide plenty of leftovers for her roommates. She left a note on both Susan and Mandy's doors letting them know she was making dinner with a friend tonight, but that they were more than welcome to come and eat once it was ready. She hoped they didn't, but it seemed rather rude to expect her roommates to stay out of their own kitchen.

Once things were prepped, she sat down on the couch, waiting for Neville to arrive. She was trying not to think of this as a date since that would add all sorts of pressure. Their first few had been wonderful- really, just like their other outings with some added flirting. It was nice- she didn't feel like she had to change who she was just because they were out together. She still didn't want to get her hopes up too high, though. It was likely she would offend him in some way, or that he would wake up and realize she wasn't nearly good enough for him. She wasn't going to let that attitude ruin her time, though. She was happy and more excited than she had been in months. Trying to push the fact that Draco had pushed Neville, inadvertently, into action was difficult, but she was doing her best to pretend her former best friend and boyfriend didn't exist. It was easier that way- sure, ignoring what happened would catch up with her soon, but for now she wanted to enjoy herself, keeping Draco Malfoy as far from her mind as possible.
