After Ernie's botched date with Eloise, he was in a right sour mood and headed straight for the Floo to the Leaky Cauldron. He didn't bother going to the Three Broomsticks, even though it was closer, because he really wasn't in the mood for sympathy or even running into anyone he knew. He wanted a drink, that was all. He wanted to be alone, but he couldn't even do that at home as Zach was there.
So, the Leaky it was. He sat down at the bar and asked Tom to serve him something strong. He didn't care what. When Tom asked him what was wrong, it only took one word to shut him up. "Women."
Ernie shook his head and tilted back the small glass full of amber liquid. It burned on the way down, but at this point, it felt good. "Another of those and a Guinness, Tom," he said, nodding at the empty shot glass.
Tom filled the shot glass once again and placed the pint in front of Ernie. "You oughtta eat, son," he said, placing a menu in front of Ernie.
He left the menu, took the second shot, and then followed it with the beer.
"I'm alright," he assured Tom, content to wallow in the bottom of the brown stout.
