Fleur knew she had too much to do. It was not the first time she had considered abandoning her agency as her pregnancy progressed but it was important work that she enjoyed doing. They were making progress. Slow progress, but then she had not expected to make a difference overnight. They had not had any unfair housing complaints in weeks, which did not necessarily mean that the problems muggleborns were encountering in renting were in the past, but it did mean there was either enough housing or the muggleborns who had problems were more comfortable lodging their complaints with the Ministry themselves now. Fleur suspected it was a combination of both, possibly with some other factors included.

One thing was clear, Magical Equality was finally at point where it was able to move on from last summer's immediate need to help muggleborns reintegrate into wizarding society, to its more long-term goal of promoting the type of understanding and environment where all types of magical beings and muggles were seen as important and worthy of respect. Fleur had done well in selling her agency to people to gain sponsors and benefactors on the basis of its goals, and how fulfilling its mission to promote equality and diversity would help prevent conflicts. She had enough in the coffers to pay for several permanent employees, although her Educational Programs Manager had refused Fleur's offer to pay saying she had more than enough to live on. Fleur started to consider where else she might like to put that salary budget to use when she drew herself back on track. Today she needed to review her choices for her open Advocate position now that all her interviews had been concluded.

She had already distracted herself by washing and putting away the new bebe things her maman and papa had sent her. She had also cleaned the nursery. Fleur had also made the decision to not use curtains but have Bill put up shutters that were stained to match the wood of the large tree in the mural Dean had painted for her. It would add to the overall effect of the room. It occurred to Fleur that with shutters, she and Bill could add charms and wards for additional layer of security for their child. Bill would like that, she was sure. She wondered where he was right now, for the cottage was quiet. She knew he did not like to go too far on the day of a full moon but perhaps he went out to run while she distracted herself earlier with working in her little temporary greenhouse, tending her vegetables, something she normally did on Sunday.

She would be pleased when she could begin planting outdoors again soon, although she had no delusions that it would be easy to plant while heavily pregnant or caring for a newborn. Perhaps she could hire Neville to come and help her with the planting. Dean and Luna had helped her sow the seeds last year, so she knew she did not have to do it all herself in order for the plants to grow as she liked. Fleur admonished herself for distracting herself again with thoughts of her garden. It was necessary to concentrate on her agency and the applications and interview notes set before her.

The only truly experienced candidate for the job was also the one that Fleur could least afford. She had been completely up front with Frances during the interview process that she could not meet her salary requirement. Fleur still considered her because she did have the funds she'd budgeted for her Educational Programs Manager that she was not using but she wasn't convinced this would be the best use of the galleons. The other two were both relatively young. With less experience in the workforce, both Hermione and Alice were affordable. Alice was Fleur's age, had been working at St. Mungo's for 2 years, 6 months in administration and about 18 months in patient advocacy, 14 months as a receptionist, and 4 as an actual case worker. She was a half blood whose father had been gravely injured by Snatchers seeking muggleborns on the run. She was eager and had some training in law before she decided she had not been interested in pursuing law as a profession. Fleur was worried that she seemed to have trouble committing to one thing. Of course, it was not unusual for young people to try different things until they hit on one that suited them. Fleur had many friends from school who had jumped around a bit before settling into a profession. Understanding it was not the same as being comfortable with it, however. Then there was Hermione. Fleur had thought Hermione would be perfect for this role long before Magical Equality had run their first advertisement for the position. Her friend was dedicated, clever and enthusiastic. She had everything Fleur wanted except experience.

Fleur sighed. She dug through her file until she came upon her list of traits and experience she wanted for the position. The better she focused, the easier this would be to get done so that she could move on to other things. Perhaps if she made a chart...
