Character: Cho Chang
Location: Chang family home, Glasgow, Scotland
Status: Private
Summary: Cho receives her NEWT marks and reflects on her future.
Completion: Complete
Cho had spent the weeks since she finished her NEWTs in Glasgow, helping in her parents' Chinese apothecary. After studying British Wizarding Potions for more than seven years, some of her parents' formulas seemed rather provincial, almost naive, but she would never tell them that, because they had inherited the formulas from their own parents. Apothecary was almost a revered caste among Chinese witches and wizards, and Cho would never suggest that there might be a better (more modern, less Eastern) potion that could achieve similar or even better results. Working six days a week in the apothecary simply stiffened her resolve to go to London and study in the Healer program at St. Mungo's.
Of course, that plan depended on the marks she'd earned on her NEWTs. Cho was relieved when a large owl swooped into the shop while her parents were out of the shop, taking their lunch break in the house. Standing alone in the main room of the shop, she took the parchment from the owl's talons and gave him a knut. As the owl flew away, Cho unrolled the parchment and read her scores.

Only four Outstandings. Her parents would be disappointed. Cho was disappointed too; she'd felt a bit shaky in both the Defence and Transfiguration practical exams, and her marks reflected that. Still, she had at least an Excellent in all six of her classes. She could apply to St. Mungo's. She would tell her parents when they returned from lunch.
