Percy never acted on his whims, really. This wasn't a whim. He'd been thinking about visiting George for the last few days. A few months ago, he'd written on his calendar that it was "Fred and George's birthday" soon, and he was starting to get a bit worried about George. It was bound to be an emotional time, but knowing George, he wanted to throw a party. And Percy would help, if he could. Some people drank to deal with their problems, some people withdrew. George liked to make productions out of them, and Percy was an enabler.
So when Percy was done getting his dress robes altered for the benefit on Saturday, he found himself outside of George's flat, wondering when it stopped being easy for him to just let himself in like he had those first few months after the war. Maybe when it felt like George stopped needing him around every day, or maybe when he didn't have work left to do in the office. Or perhaps when people started moving out and it stopped feeling like a brothel and more like a private residence. Whatever it was, he wouldn't let it stop him now. He climbed the stairs and knocked a few times before letting himself in, knowing the wards would let him through.
"Hello?" he called, and set his bag down carefully. Just thought I'd drop by didn't sound very true or natural coming from his mouth, so he didn't say it.
