Fleur smiled at Verity. She had a definite flair for displays and presentation. If her work on the setup of the items displayed for the Silent Auction was any indication of her abilities, George was very lucky to have her for his store. She had the left alcove and the two other volunteers well in hand and her primary fund raising volunteer, Mariah, was setting up the table with bid forms, quills and other necessities.
She crossed to the right alcove where Sophie Duklow, Magical Equality's Educational Programs Manager, and Eloise Midgen, the Cultural Centre Coordinator were working with two other volunteers in setting up the Cultural Centre displays. Fleur had to stay at a distance since Sophie had threatened to have Bill take her home until the Benefit started if she did anything more taxing than coordinating the various volunteers and answering questions. That was likely a good thing considering how knotted up Fleur had been last night. Thankfully, her Bill had worked the knots from her lower back that had been growing worse all week as stress over the Benefit built up. Somewhere between his attention to her back and her swollen feet, Fleur had fallen fast asleep. A good night's sleep had helped tremendously toward making her feel better and once again confident that tonight would be a success.
The Morgana had handled the setup of the Ballroom decorations. Fleur liked the midnight blue and silvery blue colours, which reminded her of her beloved Beauxbatons. By the time the bands arrived to setup the stage, everything had been sorted. Fleur had arranged with The Morgana to provide meals for the volunteers and after everyone had eaten, some of the volunteers went home while others went off to change into their evening clothes here at the hotel. Fleur donned her
cocktail dress which molded to her pregnant form. Although she was not fond of her swollen ankles and backaches, Fleur was fond of her gloriously rounded figure and liked showing it off in tasteful ways.
Fleur returned from freshening up to find Bill had returned and was looking very handsome, which of course, he knew but expected her to tell him anyway. He was followed closely by her volunteers Agnes and Ester, a pair of grandmotherly types, who would be selling tickets to walk-ins. Half an hour before the event was to begin, two more volunteers, a couple in their 30s, Gordon and Piper arrived. Their job was to provide a bit of security, both were off-duty Hit Wizards, and take tickets from those passing into the Ballroom. Fifteen minutes before the start of the event, people began arriving and Fleur had her volunteers take tickets and allow entrance. People could begin finding tables, getting drinks and chatting before a couple songs would be played at 7 o'clock before Fleur offered her thanks and said a few words about the Cultural Centre and The Association for Magical Equality and Diversity.
