Cho awoke with a sharp gasp as she sat upright in her bed. She used her wand to quickly cast a small glow in her bedroom as she looked around, still unused to waking up in her new flat. She reached for the letter on her bedside table and slowly unfolded the piece of parchment. She had read its contents countless times since receiving it by owl early Wednesday morning, yet still needed the reassurance of looking at it one more time. She glanced over the letter reading only the pertinent information. She had been asked to come to St. Mungo’s on Friday morning for an interview and if necessary, be available that afternoon for further testing and evaluations.

This was it. The goals she had set for herself were within reach. That vague notion of someday had in fact become reality, here and now. There were still a few hours before dawn but she knew sleep was elusive while her mind kept racing forward to Friday. She got out of bed and sat down on the floor of her bedroom to begin some deep breathing and stretching exercises in an attempt to clear her mind. Yesterday, she had gone flying despite the rain in an unsuccessful attempt to tire herself physically. Focus. She needed to maintain focus. She hadn’t come this far to succumb to the battle within.

Meditation had provided solace before when no one else could and it still worked when she needed to call on inner strength and discipline. The nightmares were fewer and farther between now. The memories of the past still hurt but were bearable. Deep, slow breaths. She felt relaxation take hold as she cleared her mind. That rare silence came slowly, allowing no room for doubt, worry, or insecurity. Only calm, and realization. Life was a balancing act of accepting the intertwined past, present, and future. Calm, and clarity. She felt a sense of peace at last - with her chosen path and her place in the world.
