As far as shopping went, Harry didn't mind this sort. The letter had said that they'd need their apparel and supplies before the end of next week, but he'd decided he didn't want to wait - but mostly, he was too excited to sit at home.
He went into Diagon Alley, where most of the stuff could be found. Madam Malkins sold standard issue Auror robes, he knew, so he'd stop there. And Malfoy had given him that utility belt that was admittedly pretty great, but he also wanted a simple wand holster. The first place he stopped, though, was a place called Roland Bootmakers that he'd often seen but never stopped to visit. His list had recommended it for standard black dragonhide boots, which he'd neither owned nor particularly sought out in the past, as his trainers were good for most things as far as he was concerned.
The shop was slightly dusty and struck him as very old. He could smell leather and dragonhide in the air, and could hear dull hammering from the back. A hunched old man came out from behind the counter. "Auror training?" he said knowingly.
"Er, yeah," Harry nodded and was promptly waved over to be fitted.
