Neville tossed down his notes down on the coffee table and banged his head a few times on the back of the sofa. He wondered if he might need to get up and find a brick wall to get this bit to soak in. Somehow sofa cushions just didn't have the impact he needed to get these connections stuck in his thick skull. He understood them well enough when he read them but Master Gurdin wasn't one to let Neville refer to his notes. Everything had to be memorized before he was allowed to start practicing on the actual plants. It didn't matter whether or not Neville had been helping Professor Sprout cultivate the same plants for months or not, which didn't really bother Neville, he respected that the Herbologist had his own ways and wanted to make sure Neville followed them, although it did matter to Neville that his master didn't think his plants were worth using for more than compost.
Finally he decided to pack up his notes and take a break. He'd relax a bit and go back to revising in an hour or so. Neville had just finished putting his things back in his bag when he heard one of the blokes coming downstairs.
"Oi! Didn't know anyone else was home," Neville said. "I was just about to grab a beer. Want one? Assuming there's any left."
