This was going to be a tough day for a lot of people. Lisa felt strange, almost guilty, that even though she understood what her friends were probably feeling, she didn't feel it, too. Today marked the day they went into battle because they had to, because if they hadn't, the war might never have ended. She knew so many courageous, caring people that it was almost overwhelming to think on it, to let herself realise just how important they all were--not just to her, but to the world. But for her, it was still the one year anniversary of nothing, of numbness, just like the rest of the year had been. Monday she might feel differently, but for now she only had a vague notion of what everyone else was feeling.

Still, she was determined to be where she was needed, to be the support that her friends had been for her over this year of anniversaries, especially since she hadn't been able to be there for them on the actual day.

The subject had come up briefly yesterday, and Lisa had suggested Terry come spend the evening at her house; he'd seemed to think that was a good idea. She didn't really consider it a date, because the evening wouldn't really be about their relationship as much as it was about him and making sure he had a friend when he needed one, particularly a friend who wasn't as affected by this particular anniversary. But she was still looking forward to seeing him, as much as if it was a date.

She wasn't sure exactly what time he was coming over, so for now she wanted to try and cook something for dinner, even if it was fairly simple. She didn't know if her housemates would be up for the work of meal preparation, so she was going to make enough for the four of them, and a little extra just in case anyone else popped in.

Parvati was in the sitting room when Lisa came downstairs. "In the mood for anything in particular?" she asked. "To eat, that is. I think I'm going to start cooking now, even though it's a bit early."
