Summary: Lesson 2 is the rumba
Completion: InComplete

After going through some stretches with the class, Danny and Lola stood up to begin the lesson. They saw a couple of new faces as well as some familiar ones from last week, so it was a pretty good group.

"Alright," Lola said, projecting her voice over the din. "Today we're going to be demonstrating a rumba for you, so let's go ahead and partner up." She joined Danny and grinned at him as they got into position. "Now, your stance is going to be similar to the salsa, but slightly closer -- you want your elbows to touch. Now, the footwork is different; it's going to be alternating slow and quick steps and basically, you want to be making a box on the floor with your feet."

"Ladies, you want to be mirroring your partner's movements again," Danny added. "Watch: Guys, step forward with your left foot slowly, then bring your right foot diagonally across and step quickly. Close with your left foot beside your right so that you're back in starting position. Then you basically repeat the same motion in the opposite direction, using your right foot."

"It's a slower dance than the salsa," Lola continued, "but with the diagonal steps it's a bit more complicated. Once you've got the steps down though, you can start to swivel your hips along with the movement." She demonstrated with Danny. "That's part of what makes the dance look so good, but it doesn't mean much if you haven't got the steps down."

"Okay?" Danny turned to the group. "Why don't you all give it a try, and we'll come around and help where we can."
