Stephen grabbed his notebook and shoved in into his bag with the extra quills and parchment he’d already packed. He slung the bag over his shoulder and glanced around his flat; he felt as though he’d forgotten something, but he’d felt that way all day.
Ever since he’d heard about the fire in Diagon Alley and had been forced to listen to chatter and speculation all day at the Ministry, he felt antsy and full of energy. There was quite a bit of talk that the fire had not been accidental, and that really made Stephen furious. He could not stand to allow someone to vandalize someone else’s livelihood or home. It was wrong. The perpetrator or perpetrators--whatever the case may be--needed to be punished.
Stephen was almost tempted to tell Cho he couldn’t go to the library with her tonight. He didn’t exactly want her to see him in such a state. But he also selfishly wanted to see her. He felt the need to see her, which was a troubling realization in itself. He’d never really needed anyone before...definitely not a woman.
Stephen inhaled, tried to gather his wits, and he walked across the hall to Cho’s flat.
