Magic - outside a bar

Feb 11, 2010 00:31

Buildings and fire don't get along all that well, so I figured I'd be a good patron/citizen and practice my fire-based illusions and magic outside. Some people think magic is all smoke and mirrors. To be fair, most of it is. However, one might say that I am the exception to that general 'rule'. While I have put to use both smoke and mirrors ( ( Read more... )

It was mostly that she was bored that she was walking around. There was still no real sign of Barabbas, but she was still convinced that he'd show up soon.

Okay, so she really hoped he'd show up soon. She catches sight of the columns of flame and feels that perhaps she should give a show too -- which is why one area of the flame columns is now covered with a localized lightning show.

It's definitely far enough away from Harry to be considered 'just showing off', though, as opposed to 'trying to kill you with electricity'.

Well now, that's interesting. And not me. And - fucking lightning, of all things.

Are lightning and fire supposed to mix?

I feel an eyebrow arch up my forehead as I turn over my shoulder to locate the source of the localized lightning.

"This your doing?" I ask the brilliantly red-haired woman. Which was the second thing that came to mind. The first was 'do you mind?' and rather snarky too. Who says I can't think on my feet?

"No, of course not."

She manages this with a completely straight face only because she isn't fully paying attention. Clara crosses her arms across her chest and purses her lips, watching the columns of flame mix with the lightning whether or not it wants to.

"Considering it's not me, and it's not raining or even thinking about raining," I even cast a glance to the sky to make sure, "and there's no one else around, I'm thinking you're lying."

...yeah, to say it's anything other than the fire that catches Axel's attention would be a blatant lie. It's not too often that he sees someone else 'playing with fire.'

"...Not bad," he says, after a little while.

"I do what I can." My simple answer. I have no idea who this guy is, so I give out very little. Survival instinct.

Probably a good idea, when you're looking at a guy who could easily shop at Villains R Us.

"Can't say I've seen many people playing with fire around here."

"Most people are afraid to get burned." In my experience, anyway.
