[Morty would not have minded going out to meeting Falkner any day. Even when it was Valentine's, and he was trying his hardest not to get the wrong idea. He cleared his throat for his own sake and tightened the scarf around his neck; he was expecting everything to be normal.

Yup. Ordinary. When he heard Falkner call out to him, his smile widened a bit and he turned to walk in his direction. Morty waved as he got closer.]

Well, hello there, Falkner. Good to see you again, hmm?

[He lowered his arm and bowed quickly. He tried to relax.] A-ah, yes, it is good to see you too, Morty. I apologize for the sudden request. Thank you for coming today. I hope you have been well?

[Ah, can't look him in the eye. He holds out a small paper bag of oranges.] These are for you... er... for the Lunar new year. Please take them.

[Oh dear. Falkner's tsun levels were off the chart. Morty shook his head in response. Honestly, he would have denied the request if he wasn't willing to come] It's no problem, Falkner. I've been good enough, I suppose.. -

Ah. [And then Falkner was handing him oranges. Was that what this was all about? He accepted them, nonetheless] Thank you. Wouldn't it have been easier for me to just come to Violet City for these, though?

[Falkner's eyes widened at Morty's observation. Oh, there was no escape now. He had to resist the urge to look into the tall grass in desperation.] Well, er, yes! Yes it would have... I-I only wanted to er, save you part of the trip as well as breathe in some fresh air for myself...

[A guilty stab.] Ah, no, Morty, the truth is... I felt like this would be a good place for me to share... share some thoughts with you that I've had for a while. [He shifts his weight nervously.] Please hear me out.

[A brief look of concern flashed across Morty's features, seeing Falkner acting like he was. He forced himself to relax, though, so he wouldn't make the younger man any more tense. His usual smile crept back and he nodded.]

Of course. Whatever you want.

[A rush of hotness swept all over his body. He was sure his face could not hide it either, so he closed his eyes for a moment, steeled his resolve, and looked Morty in the eye. He had to swallow before speaking.]

Morty. I could not tell exactly when my feelings towards you have changed from friendship into what it is now, but as my honor would have it, I must be honest with you. [He made a short pause. He's come this far.] I... like you.

[As soon as those words left his lips, he felt a huge urgency to leave as swiftly as possible. He quickly bows and turns to walk away while uttering one sentence quickly.] That is all I have to say, good day, Morty.

[He listened calmly, quietly. By the time Falkner had gotten to the end of his confession (it was a confession. Morty could hardly wrap his mind around that for a moment) his entire body was tense and his heart was beating so much faster.]

[Of course, it didn't show on his face, besides how his smile was gone. But that was out of surprise. Because, for once, he couldn't react fast enough. There were too many ways to react and then Falkner had turned to leave.] Fal-- wait!

[Morty reached out and grabbed Falkner's wrist to stop him. Suddenly, he was sure that the smile on his face was no longer composed, but rather silly] ... you can't just leave after saying something like that.

[Falkner halted in his steps from Morty's hold. He felt a chill of fear that Morty may have taken offense, but turning around, that didn't seem to be the case. He stops and struggles with his words.] A-ah... but I...

[He's looking down.] I'm sorry. I've never... admitted feelings for anyone before... I am not sure what else to do in this kind of situation.

Well... [He paused. Falkner was very, very adorable when he was being shy.]

[Morty kept his hold light, but it was still enough to make sure Falkner couldn't escape.] ... usually, I think you would wait to see the other person's response.

[Ah, that was inconsiderate of him now that he thought about it. He could not argue, but at least it didn't seem like Morty was upset. Falkner looked back up despite the heat still residing in his cheeks.] I see... that was rude of me, wasn't it? I apologize. I will listen to your response, Morty, go ahead.
