Falkner lifted his head at the voice and turned to face his guest. "Miss Amelia, welcome." He bowed slightly then took her hand for a quick shake. "I have been well. I am glad you are able to come."
He folded his arms inside his sleeves, but before he could continue onto the topic of the day, he felt a stare and looked down. "Oh! A Natu! I assume this is your Pokémon?" he asked while looking delighted that Amelia has a bird of her own already.
Amelia sighed; she had not wanted to show the leader her not-so-fit Pokémon, but... they had other plans.
"I should be the one thanking you for your time, Leader. And yes, he is," she replied succintly. However, as the bird was being rude and before the man could ask for more, she started to explain her Natu's strange behaviour.
"Marsch decided to come with me. When I told my partners that we would get a new member, they were... a bit worried." 'Worried' didn't begin to cover the battle it had become. "My Skarmory and my Swellow are waiting outside; actually, Marsch was very excited for Chatot's coming... I guess it is his way of saying "hi"," she ended, feeling kind of... stupid.
"Marsch. I see," he nodded. "I must commend your Natu for its courage. Most small birds are usually more cautious." Falkner's positive expression changed to annoyance when he heard a squawk from Chatot above. He turned around and held his arm up. "Chatot, that's enough, come down."
It seemed to have understood at first, but as it descended, it landed on Falkner's head instead. "Hello, hello, aaawk! Hello!" it screeched at Amelia and Natu then started picking at Falkner's hair with its beak. Falkner did not look pleased. He lowered his arm and sighed in exasperation before answering.
"I would be honored to examine your Skarmory and Swellow if you'd like. They are more than welcome to step into the gym. As for this fellow..." Falkner took a pokéball from his pocket and recalled Chatot into the ball. His hair is now a mess. "I pray that it finds a much brighter future with you and your school children." He holds out the ball towards Amelia to take.

While this person closed the door and made sure everything was in its due place, the bird moved, with small and quick jumps, towards the leader.
Reaching its goal, the creature -a Natu- opened his eyes to the max and fixed them into Chatot, in a somewhat... unnerving way.
"Good afternoon, Leader Falkner," greeted Amelia, holding out her right hand to him and leaving her bag in the floor. "How have you been?"
