Getting Old Is Not For Sissies. Or Couch Potatoes.

Last week I tried YOGA for the first time. There are 3 different places to do so in my town. I avoided the one that wants to read my aura/energy vibes (cult! but tempting as it's right next door to Starbux). Went to an introductory session for beginners ( Read more... )

Great advice. Just how will I know I've found it without trying it -- and hating it? -- first? But yeh, I shouldn't give up so easily. I just expected there would be something in the yoga that spoke to me, made me want to keep at it. So far, nope. But we probably need a second date before I decide.

heh. Yeh. Inside I think I'm 35. Outside, I feel my 63. I'm going to officially be a senior in just 2 years! EEEEEEKKKKKK!! (Inside very old person is a young person screaming "How did this happen! Let me out!"

I know the feeling. I tried following along to a 15 minute exercise on tv (onDemand). From the description it sounded like it was pretty easy. OMG 15 minutes of pure hell!

About all I can cope with is walking. And I have a DVD of exercises for people with osteoporosis (and I can only do some of them) which is more my speed than what was on tv but it gets boring...

But getting back to yoga, you don't have to do heated yoga. There are other kinds. If I hear of anything that sounds promising I can let you know.

I have to find a place that doesn't do it automatically. This place had some listed as "heated" and others not designated "heated." But they ALL were heated. They considered heat, but not ultra steam, as "normal/not heated." But it was.

I know that heat is supposed to be good for muscle relaxation so people don't over-extend/rip a muscle when stretching. I don't do that. I know how to "relax INTO" a stretch, not force it.

There's also Chair Yoga. :-) You might try that. I might also.

And if you ever want to go out walking with me, I'm up for that. It's the one activity I'm happy to do. Especially when the snow/ice/yuck is off the ground, which will hopefully be soon.

That would be lovely. There are places I'd like to explore.

Anyone who knows me would say that I'm a perfect match for yoga. No so, though. I've tried several different kinds at different points in my life and.... nada. Thankfully, I found my way to the tribal fusion dancing.

I need to get back into an exercise routine, too. A lot of things are kind of competing for time, and I end up getting less done than I'd hoped.

you might wanna give the cult one by a starbux (also a cult btw lol) a try. Often those types of classes are more forgiving and 'easier' to work through.

and i hear you - i am still 23 and looking at this body that is twice the woman i used to be and nearly twice that old going... But..but...that can't be ME!?!??!

I hope all is well in your corner of the world.

huggles!
