Looks like I've got a few challenges to catch up on.

A dozen red and white roses is delivered with a note

"And all the breeze of Fancy blows,
And every dewdrop paints a bow,
The wizard lightnings deeply glow,
And every thought breaks out a rose.
-Alfred Lord Tennyson"

The card is signed "I do not know whether you will recall our meeting, I believe it was at one of the Luxuria parties. You were easily the most stunning female in attendance, and I thought perhaps some small tribute should be made to your beauty. Please excuse the forwardness of this gesture, I will not presume to do it again unless you show some favor or interest in pursuing a frindship. I do mean friendship, my appreciation of a beautiful redhead does not necessarily include a desire for baser things."

The scrawling signature "Jack"

Rachel accepts the flowers and, after tipping the delivery boy, brings them into her living room. Figuring they're probably from Alistair, some new attempt to win her affection, she sets them on the coffee table and pulls out the card.

Not from Alistair. She thinks back to the Halloween party, remembers Jack. They'd talked briefly and he'd seemed nice enough. A little formal, but she was used to that after dealing with centuries-old vampires for so many years. He'd been a bit mysterious, too, something she'd learned to be wary of. Mysterious men, in her experience, were often wise to avoid.

But Jack's note intrigues her, and the flowers are gorgeous. He doesn't seem to be hitting on her, which is a nice change of pace. And if he does turn out to have sinister intnetions, she can take care of herself.

The only problem is, she has no idea how to contact him to thank him.

The following afternoon a note is delivered with a single yellow rose.

"I will be dining at six pm tonight if you care to share a meal." Followed by directions to a nice, if not well known family resturant that specializes in a wide variety of home cooked meals.

After rising for the night, Rachel found the note and flower at her door. She read the note with a frown. How was she supposed to handle this? It was already past six - the sun hadn't set completely until nearly seven - and a restaurant is hardly the best meeting place when one can't eat.

All she could do was call the restaurant and hope he was still there. When the hostess answered, she asked if she could check and see if there was anyone named Jack there waiting for a Rachel.
