What Will Change

May 28, 2007 03:23

Location: North Weyr
Time: Evening on Day 9, Month 11, Turn 3
Players: Roa and R'en
Scene: R'en takes what he's learned and brings it to Roa. Things go well if by 'well' one means 'very very badly'.

If you had asked to go, it would have been personal and it would have been for keeps )

Check out Roa calling R'en out on his weaknesses, man. It's clear to her-- and I think it's clear to R'vain, too-- that even if R'en resists the enemy outside of himself, he has a hard time resisting the enemy within.

Great scene. Can I run away now?

Roa calls R'en out on the fact that he would have stayed, if he'd gone, and he doesn't deny it. I find that interesting. My heart breaks for her, as well, knowing that she's just had a friend confirm to her what she secretly believes -- that they'll all leave her, in the end. I love the start, that they can begin to have that conversation while he has his arms around her. I'm interested, though not surprised, that she didn't try and defend herself more -- that she didn't point out to him that their friendship aside, there's no reason that she would tell him Tavaly was going, as he doesn't have the rank or the position at present to merit being told, and Tavaly asked that it be kept from him.
