This morning, in a moment of decreased sanity, I think I said yes to the sellers of an apartment in Schiedam.

Barring any unforseen circumstances with mortgages and building inspectors, it looks like I'll be getting the key to my own property on September 1st.

Well, congratulations!

A bit out of the city center, but you get great highway access and a bus stop right outside your front door.

Hope you have double glazing in the front, though. That road is going to be a bit more noisy than the one you're currently living on. =)

So is yours the ground/1st, or the 2nd/3rd floor apartment?

As Thaily mentioned, 2nd/3d floor. Bit like your situation. Own front door, then a loooong set of stairs to the 2nd floor (width 75 cm....). So I need to make sure I have all my big things delivered on the same day, so I only need to rent a builder's elevator for one day. Now I have 3 months to go shopping for new couches, a dining table with chairs, a washingmachine and a big bed. Luckily there'll already be a fridge there and I don't need a big wardrobe closet because I can use the smallest room as a walk-in closet.

So... waiting for AOK from inspector, appraisor and mortgage dealer. Then get the key, fix the place, move in, treat myself to a Nespresso machine and when I'm fully settled in: look for a ferret (or two!)

Feel free to come by when the dust has settled. The place is in walking distance from metrostations Vijfsluizen and Troelstralaan. As for the therapist: he's the guy selling the place. So, there's quite some .... holistic touches to the house right now :D
