Spammy replies

Apr 14, 2011 12:42

Anyone else getting these spammy replies to their journal posts? Along the lines of:

- I normally never follow a blog, but yours is great, lol.
- I agree with what you're saying. Great post.
- I don't bookmark sites, but I will bookmark this!!!

They're bloody annoying, especially when they're non-replies to the posting of Chewbaaka's passing.

Not me, but someone else in my FL was also complaining about the same thing just a few days ago.
The blogs in question are created recently too and have no entries, not even advertisement or shit...

Check your email for the emailed comments.

I dunno how they're doing it, but these comments usually have a ton of links in them that don't show up on the LJ, but do show up in the HTML or the emailed reply.

The other thought is that they're account farming, actually herding and raising accounts that won't get auto-killed when reported for bot-like behavior.

Yeah, I totally agree with what you're saying there... :P

Still, I concur with Ion, they manage to stuff all kinds of html markup in the emailed replies somehow and just bot-reply to non-locked journals.
