You have to admire that even though I often questioned how happy people could make interesting music. You have to have the tales of heartache, you must have something that drives you to feel. Pain causes most people to feel deeper than love and endearment. And “here it comes again”
There are a rare few happy songs that are actually good. But most of them come out terrible... you can't really make a good rock'n'roll song about flowers and butterflies. Or ketchup. A lot of people have tried. It just doesn't work. But of course that's my opinion... and I guess you can be a happy fellow outside of music and then release all the pain into your art. That's probably the best way to deal anyway.

I think I have to agree with you, although I might enjoy hearing a song about ketchup. But it would be more English to make it about vinegar and salt. Which are not very happy, are they? I do believe it's piontless although the beat is generally nice. I find it's hard to draw from pain that doesn't exist. When I'm happy I'm rarely creative.

Remember "The Ketchup Song" from Las Ketchup? I believe it was one of the great summer hits of 2003, they've got the video on their website, in case you're interested. It's a terrible tune, I'm not sure if it's actually about ketchup, but that's what it's called.
