My blog on LJ

Nov 10, 2009 08:09

An RSS feed for my blog can be read on lj as user rdonoghueblog. Curiously, I didn't set it up, but when I went to set one up myself, it turns out that that username was already in use, so i checked it out and there it was.

Anyway, thank you to whoever set that up!

And for those lookign to use google reader or the like, try this as the rss address: Leave a comment

I think that was me: I use LJ as my general blog aggregator.

I know I've set up a lot of such recently.

This is great, as I use LJ for RSS feeds a lot (since it's portable and I have a habit to check it already). Thanks for the syndication link.

But ya know, you could also tweet a new blog post announcement - there's probably an automated way to announce it if all the blog posts are automated already.

I liked the "hate the villain" post, and the "monologuing" one -- both of which I intend to point people at.

Already added you to my Google Reader feed yesterday. I, too, really liked the villain posts.

One villain technique I've been using lately is "henchman picking up the pieces." After the big bad is pwned, one of his lieutenants grabs some stuff and some people, and tries to recapture the glory. Or, start a different path to glory, but with lots of the same resources from the past. It gives the continuity to the story that the matryoshka doll effect does. But, the players feel empowered that they broke the villain into smaller villains, rather than discouraged that each victory is only a step towards an ever-retreating horizon of ultimate peace.

The trick is to find a way to make the henchman believable, and yet still a viable threat.
