Sparked by someone’s blog, which is ironic(I’ll get to why later) I’ve gone on that proverbial, “I’m done with myspace” thing. Its become such a social crutch that it has basically become this hegemonic socialization agent for those in the 14-35 age range. No matter how hard you try, you really can't be honest about who you are when you're creating a profile on Myspace; the site is *designed* to help people really sell themselves, and though you can learn alot about someone by how they chose to present themselves, nothing can be as accurate a representation of yourself as yourself. Yeah, I guess it would be dumb to use someone's online persona to get to know someone when you have them right there in front of you, and it seems like it is an easily over-used crutch for the shy, the socially anxious, and the lazy to try and get to know someone without having to go to all the trouble of laboring through conversation and arranging time to have those conversations in the first place. But, (in my experiance) it is the arranging for time to have conversations which is the hardest part, and that is where Myspace is the most usefull ( ... )

yeah. not much i can say to that. you hit on why i actually stay on myspace. and generally, i'm starting to drop the bullshit attitude towards people on it, and just people in general.
