I Tried Not To Click 'Read More', But You Tricked Me!

Before I start ranting about everything that is pissing me off today, here is an Eagle rec that has done a lot for putting me in a better state of mind. whispering in the cold by vixys, a quiet, gorgeous exploration of Marcus's Romanness and Esca's wildness and how they fit together:

The door to the kitchen bursts open in a flurry of light, and Aquila ( Read more... )

fic rec, oh my life!

I'm still trying to figure out a way to block tumblr posts that mention the word 'shark' in them. I'll figure it out eventually.

I really wish there was a killswitch for that. It's so necessary these days.

With it being Shark Week, it's gotten even worse. Oh ho ho, a picture of a shark with Michael's head pasted on. New and hilarious.

Also, I thought Daniel and Rachel were in the officially allowed Sexy Decrepit Old People category. Get with the times, article writer.

Apparently, no such category exists in traditional media, but fuck 'em, we'll create it ourselves. :D

Right, I keep forgetting that my worth as a woman is based entirely on the shape of my body and my actual age. SORRY, WORLD, I'M USELESS AT 33. Ugh.

SALT WAS AMAZING. I love all Angelina action movies, and this one just pinged even more for me because it had her speaking in Russian and just generally being gorgeous and competent.

<333!

I am getting tired of fandom as well, but that always happens about three months into a new fandom, especially one as big as XFC. Right now, the only fandom not irritating the living shit out of me is The Eagle, and that's mostly because it's such a quiet, tiny fandom. Sigh.

"Nothing like a blog post to make assholes tell everyone how superior they are."

YES OMFG. Like, I get that sometimes there is privilege and it's infuriating, but the sheer amount of hate that gets dumped onto people in comments is beyond the pale. And the worst part is that the reasonable comments with something important to say get lost in the stupid comments.

I read an article about why Marvel and DC are paying lip service to diversity in the comic book industry without actually hiring the people or creating the characters to back it up, and the comments were a completely shitstorm. And every ignorant jackass with a grudge showed up to put down female comic book fans, female writers, and anyone, male or female, who spoke about wanting the industry to change to cater more to female fans and fans of color. It was infuriating, to say the least.

I watched Salt for Angelina Jolie being flawless and Chiwetel Ejiofor being Chiwetel Ejiofor, which is all the reason I need when watching a movie. I am hoping for a sequel where it is more of La Jolie kicking everyone's ass in a variety of costumes and wigs while Chiwetel reads reports about her exploits and continues to look incredibly handsome and well dressed. And then they have sex.

Oh my god, that Gawker thing is ridiculous. I can't even respond to it, it's just so gross.

Seconded on the XMFC thing. It's worse than the problems I have with Sherlock fandom and dinosaurs. -_-

Oh, Jesus, really. When you start off with the word "gross" in an article, I am not taking anything else you say seriously. I know it's a gossip site, but c'mon! Lawson is supposedly an adult and a professional reporter, although you can't tell either from his column.

I am only peripherally involved with Sherlock fandom, but I feel your pain. I am seriously one shark mention away from quitting the entire fandom because I am honestly getting sick of how people just cannot let a fucking joke go.

Until presented with conclusive evidence, I will continue to assume that Lawson is a particularly immature eleven year old. The writing style is a dead giveaway.

It seems like the dinosaurs thing has died down, but lord... Also, I'm really pretty peripheral in XMFC as it is, and when I'm noticing it enough to be bothered? It's really quite a problem.

Also, I'm totally going to go home and watch Salt now.
